Our Mission
Backstage has been owned and operated since 1980 by Cynthia Thompson.
She has a College Degree in dance from Sam Houston State University. She has studied dance for more than
35 years and is highly trained in Classical Ballet from Houston Ballet and well as other Ballet Academies. She
has also performed with several dance companies and Groups over the years. Her mission statement is:
"To provide students of all ages with quality dance education grounded in traditional technique
combined with the latest styles to enjoy dance for a lifetime." All the staff that works
at Backstage are Certified in Performing Arts. That means that they have training in at least one of the the following
dance forms: ballet, jazz, tap, modern, hip-hop, lyrical, pointe. Our dance studio is committed to
making sure you recieve the best training in the dance form of your choice. All the staff of Backstage is committed to not just teach the student a "dance" ...
but to teach the student HOW to dance.
Our History
Backstage has been in operation since 1980. Through the years Backstage
has consistently provided a quality dance curriculum for the beginner through the advanced student. Backstage has trained
past students who have gone on to be in professional Ballet Companies, teachers of Dance or dance related fields. We
have provided the proper training for careers in dance and dance related fields as well as dance for recreation.
Backstage offers a complete program in Pre-school,Ballet,
Pointe,Jazz, Hip-Hop, Tap, Lyrical,and Modern. For ages 2
through adult and beginner through advanced.
Performance Opportunities "The Nutcracker Ballet" - presented every other December at Conroe High School Competition Dance Ensemble'- Competitions in March/April Annual recital - presented at Conroe High School (either May or June)
